Ayurveda- Ayurveda which means ‘science of life’ or ‘knowledge of life’ is a combination of two words ‘Ayur’ and ‘Veda’. The history of Ayurveda is very old that starts from Vedas (The Holy Book in Hinduism). The need of Ayurveda was revealed by creator of the world himself- Lord Brahma.  There are four Vedas in Hinduism they are - the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samveda and the Atharvaveda.

The Atharvaveda has the principal of healing and it is stated the Ayurveda origin from it. Ayurveda is based on Atharvaveda which describes human’s life cycle.

Prasannatma, Indriyas manah swath abhidayate”- Sushruta 24/41
(Health is in balance when all three Doshas (bioenergy) and Agni (Metallic Process) are in balance, and excretions are in proper order. When Atman (Soul), sense, Manah (Intellect) are in harmony with internal peace, the Svastha (Optimal health) is achieved.)
The Ayurveda Concept- The Ayurveda concept encourages us to live healthy with nature and follow a healthy lifestyle. According to Ayurveda the universe is made of five elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth and Space) and they are called Panchamahabhutas.  Each human individual has a distinct balance, and our health and well being depends on three Doshas (Tri-dosas)
These three Doshas (Tridosas) or energies are made of up of the five mentioned elements-:
  1.  Vata - (space or air) it is thought to be most powerful of all three Doshas. It is generally seen as the force which controls nerves impulses, breathing, blood flow and elimination.
  2. Pitta - (fire or water) - it controls digestion, metabolism and certain hormones linked to appetite
  3. Kapha - (water or earth) - This is believed to control weight, immune system, growth and strength and the cerebral-spinal fluid that protects the brain and column.

Human body loses its balance when any of these five goes beyond the desirable limits.

According to Sushrut samhitaa person healthy one whose doshas are in balance, appetite is good, all tissues of the body and all natural urges are functioning properly and whose mind, body and spirit are cheerful.”
