Travelling in India: some tips


Are you going on a tour?  Have you selected right transport and accommodation? Are you secure? These are few questions that often come to your thoughts while travelling abroad.
Some tips while travelling to India can make your journey a pleasant experience.
1. Appearance-
o Wear comfortable clothes.
o Respect religious belief.
Public addiction and nudity is not appreciated.
Wear trousers while visiting religious places.

2. Transport – choosing right transport is very important while travelling India-

o   Ask your tour operator in India to choose for you efficient clear and comfortable transport
o   In many places in  India you may not find public transport , hire a registered tourist vehicle with yellow registration plate
o   While travelling in train carry your toilet paper, napkins etc.

3. Food- India is a place for foodies with numerous choices for vegetarian and non-vegetarian-
o   Please choose a clear and hygienic restaurant.
o   Ask restaurant about food quality contents specials.
o   You can eat Indian Mediterranean, continental, Chinese and Tandoori food and many regional foods.

4 Photography- as you wish to capture good picture of your trip so click maximum pictures

o   Ask for permission before clicking pics of woman and religious places.
o   Some places charge for pictures and some places prohibit   photography.

5. Shopping- India is shopping paradise where you have huge choice of handicrafts, handmade leather, jewelry and western brands etc.

o   Go to Govt run shops or ask your tour operator in Indians for the recommended shops
o   Do not buy through touts and street sellers

6. Other important tips
o   You must have valid passport and valid Indian visa
o   Better to keep you passport in safe custody of the hotel.
o   You may use electronic traveler authorization if eligible for E-Visa
o   If you must have it obtains a certificate of legitimate sale and permission for export before leaving the country.

o   If you are carrying currency more than equaling 5000 USD and above. It must be declared at the first arriving port.
o   Do not smoke in public places.
o   Don’t give money to beggars.
o   Trading in ivory, fur, animal skins drags is illegal.
o   Have right choice.
o   It is recommended to make your travel arrangements in India trough recognized and renowned tour operator
